Home // December 2 2008 > God is pro-choice, nun claims
With respect to error we could be uncompromising, but with respect to person who may be in error, we should always be kind and understanding. Sr. Arline Welding SSSF is fully aware of what is abortion and its ramifications to ones soul and the circumstance in the community as in Honduras. However she lacks understanding on human acts moral action, in particular, the challenged she earnestly posed to her Bishop. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, if the three elements of moral action are morally good, the object, the intension or the end in view and the circumstances of the action, then the action is moral. Apparently one element of the action is immoral, the abortion or killing itself, so there is no way you could justify to your Bishop that the entire action is morally good or have the grace of sanctification to person. We should still treat the Nun in kindness to direct her attention to the Catholic teaching, (CCC# 1750)

Without any fanfare, I suggest that this lady is a moron, plain and simple. She writes: "I challenge our bishops to dwell more on unjust economic issues that both create and perpetuate the need for children to die of starvation, and for women to choose abortion. It would be better to aim at eliminating poverty rather than focus only on abortion. Lady, if you would stop the humanist rattling in that space you have which should be holding a brain, you might probably come to the understanding that the main mission of the Church through her Bishops is the salvation of Souls, not the manipulation of social injustices. Remember, Jesus Himself assured us that "the poor will always be with you." Wake up lady, get back in your habit, be the nun you were called to be instead of the one you think you should be, obey the Holy Father, be humble, and last but not least....GROW SOME BRAINS!!!

God also has people go to hell who choose to do evil things. Its not that He doesn't care what we do. "Pro-choice" is a misnomer, what it means is that abortion is right, not that we can choose it. I doubt pro-life people would argue that people are unable to choose to have abortions, rather they would say that to do so is an evil action. Its not about whether you can its whether you should. I repeat, God punishes those who disobey his laws. Though he gave us the ability to disobey, we still should not.

I am glad that there is someone out there who understands that there are greater problems than abortion. She knows what she is talking about more than most people who have an opinion on abortion. Of course poverty is at the heart of many abortions. Poor young pregnant women can't afford to take care of a baby. Being poor, their education is already crippled, and if she were to have a baby think how much more difficult it would be to get adequate schooling, and an attempt to get out of poverty. Of course, I don't think this justifies abortion, but it is one of the main causes. If poverty were taken away, a great amount of abortion would be taken away. If proper sex education was given to students, there would be less of a need for a woman to have to choose is she wants an abortion, because there would be less unplanned pregnancies. When facing a problem, you don't start by eliminating the effects, but start at its roots, and work upwards. It seems that abortion is an effect of a much greater problem.
