Katie Holmes picks elite Catholic school for daughter Suri

Katie Holmes has reportedly enrolled Suri Cruise in a prestigious Catholic girls school, ending the 6-year-old’s many, many years — we jest, people, we jest — of home-schooling.

Holmes, who was raised Catholic and relocated to New York City as she moved to divorce Tom Cruise, has selected Manhattan’s Convent of the Sacred Heart, according to E! News.

Though all aspects of the Cruise-Holmes divorce settlement are confidential, a source told L.A. Now that the role of Scientology in Suri’s upbringing was a key part of the couple’s negotiations.

Sacred Heart boasts alumnae with names such as Kennedy, Hilton and Vanderbilt, plus one Stefani Germanotta, a.k.a. Lady Gaga. [more]

There certainly is an abundance of homeschooling information available and this is a good thing… for the most part… as long as you don’t get bogged down in overload and suffer paralysis by analysis. There are a lot of wonderful articles and tips to help you insure your homeschool success.`;`..

There are schools in the arch-diocese off NY, the Diocese of Brooklyn and the Diocese of Rockville Centre that cater to the poor and the minorities and the inner city types. For the names of these schools you may call the chancery office of the respective diocese.

This just underscores the fact that catholic education is for the rich white folks. This private school does serve the poor, give back to the community or extend services to the average catholic in the pew.
We need to reconstruct our education system to serve all catholics rich or poor.

Merton, you don’t know what you are talking about. I am a Californian and can show you numerous good Catholic schools that serves poor and working class families and their children in all regions of California. I am currently in Western PA and can also show you schools here that certainly do not cater to folks with money. The Catholic schools I know (I have three children enrolled in Catholic schools) serve all segments of the community, be they well-off or not-so-well-off. I have no idea what you mean by “reconstruct” — get out there and see for yourself what is happening in our Catholic school. If you can’t or are unwilling to do that, please pray for our schools and our Catholic principals, teachers and staff, and the pastors that support our Catholic schools. Thank you.

Good! It will hopefully keep her out of the clutches of Scientology!
