Law prof to sue CUA over single sex dorms
George Washington University law professor John Banzhaf has filed notice that he intends to sue Catholic University over its plan to gender-segregate its dorms.
Banzhaf argues that the plan constitutes illegal sex discrimination under the District of Columbia’s Human Rights Act, NBC Washington reports.
Banzhaf has won more than 100 legal actions under the statute, he said in a statement, adding that the District’s anti-discrimination law “prohibits any discrimination based directly or indirectly upon sex unless it is strictly necessary for the entity to remain in business.”
And since for more than 25 years Catholic University has grown considerably without gender-segregated dorms, “it is very unlikely that this newly-unveiled plan would qualify” as a business necessity, Banzhaf added.

Who will Prof Banzhaf sue next? The six states that legalized gender-segregated marriage (aka same-sex marriage)?
secular world messing around with the religious world. what else is new?
Wouldn’t you know that some wacko lawyer would sue CUA over gender-segregated dorms. He must really have nothing worthwhile to do with his time.
Never mind that there exists much data showing better learning outcomes and other indisputable benefits for students who live in gender-segregated dorms.
Typical lawyer. Don’t confuse him with the facts. Let him have his 15 min. of fame.
One more reason why the world would be a whole lot better off without lawyers
It is time to stand up to these liberal academics. Answer the suit, take it all the way to jury and see what happens. If the school should loose the case, close the college and put the good professor and his buddies out of work.
I guess the only solution is just to shut down the dorms and let nature take it’s course. How is it discrimination? You are contracting with the university on a place to stay. The university has the control on where to place you. If a hotel decides to place all left handed people on one floor and the right handed people on another, it does not impeed them from getting a good nights rest.
Hopefully a countersuit will be filed against Banzhaf for wrongful prosecution.
According to Prof. Banzhaf’s view, all restrooms throughout D.C. should be gender neutral. The showers and dressing rooms in all high schools and universitites should also be gender neutral. No doubt he would be for that as well.
